In the summer of 2015 we visited Charlevoix for the purpose of finding a week long rental house for the following June. Lyndas youngest daughter would be tying the knot at Castle Farms and we planned to arrive early and make a week of it. It was on this first trip that we realized that Charlevoix is a very special place for us. By the end of the wedding week the next summer we had decided that somehow, summers in Charlevoix would be in our future.
At first the idea of a Bed & Breakfast seemed daunting and out of reach but over the next 3 years of watching for properties, considering the details and possibilities the Sunflower Inn has blossomed into reality.
John was born and raised in east central Indiana and retired in 2020 after 40+ years of employment in the glass container industry. Lynda is a native Michigander and has worked for 25 years in the world of medical transcription. We have traveled extensively and enjoy staying in B& Bs when possible. Since childhood, we have spent many happy summers with friends and family in Charlevoix, Michigan. Despite having no experience in the hospitality industry, we believed that with some hard work, the Belvedere Bed and Breakfast could become a destination that would allow visitors to create memories that they will cherish for a lifetime. Thanks to an immense effort from many contractors, plumbers, electricians, family and friends, our vision has become reality. The Belvedere Bed & Breakfast is now open with new floors, AC, new paint inside & out, all King beds and an updated look that will have locals and visitors alike excited to visit and stay at this special place!

Charlevoix House was purchased in 2017 and fully rehabbed. This property located conveniently at 202 Michigan had been closed 7 years and we were thrilled to bring it back to the marketplace for guests to enjoy. We have continued to improve all aspects of the property year upon year.
The Northside was added to our portfolio in 2021 and rehabbed that same year to be a 7 unit Inn. We appointed all the rooms to be themed. Each room was updated as well as many of the common areas. It sparkles when you walk-in.

Wintertime Friday evenings are magical in Charlevoix.Bundle up and do what it takes to get yourself to Mt. McSauba by 7 pm on a Friday evening this winter. Youll want at least an hour to tromp through the snow out to the roaring bonfire beside the frozen lake. Snowshoe, hike, or cross-country ski on candle-lit trails on this self-guided journey. The hike begins at the sledding hill parking lot. The event takes place between 5 8 PM. If you start at 5 pm, you might just catch the sunset.The trail is about a mile long. Plan on an hour for this experience.Theres no cost to participate. Volunteers go all out to make this community event special, providing hot cocoa at the bonfire stop, as well as putting out the candles and handling all of the small details that make this event a success.
