Best Breakfast In Bend Oregon

How We Created This List

Campfire Hotel Review Bend, Oregon

We typically dont do restaurant round-ups because we dont feel like we can do a towns food scene justice when were just traveling through. However, after living in Bend for more than a year, weve done quite a bit of research and wanted to share our findings aka restaurants we love.

1. We are only including restaurants that we have personally eaten at and loved. In fact, most of the restaurants on this list are places weve been to more than once . There are many other restaurants in town we like but to make it on this list, they have to be really special.

Here are some factors we took into consideration:

  • Excellent food. Duh.

  • Good atmosphere. If the atmosphere isnt great, we will note that its a better takeaway spot.

  • Consistency in food and service.

  • Worth the price. There are some restaurants in town that are good but overpriced for what you get. We tried only to include restaurants that we believe are a good value .

2. For most restaurants on this list, were not only sharing a description but also what to order.

This list includes everything from fine dining to cheap eats, like this taproom and food truck pod, On Tap.

3. We tried our best to make this list pretty well-rounded, and tried to include all of the following:

  • cheap eats as well as fine dining

  • American fare as well as cuisine from around the world

  • breakfast spots and dinner locations

  • restaurants, pubs, bakeries, food trucks, coffee shops and breweries

Bold Portuguese Cuisine At Caf Sintra

Portuguese food is definitely not as commonly-found as other European cuisines, but its flavors are just as delicious. At Café Sintra, guests get the chance to sample unique flavors in a casual and trendy setting in their downtown Bend location on Bond Street or at a second location in Sunriver. The breakfast menu is lined with items such as the monte cristo sandwich, the Portuguese benedict with linguica sausage and the Francesca breakfast sandwich with dijonnaise.

Lunch is where the Portuguese flavors really shine with tons of fresh sandwiches, salads, soups and pizzas with ingredients like linguica sausage, fresh goat cheese, drizzles of olive oil, and plenty of fresh tomatoes and herbs. The eatery is a counter-style establishment, so tables are on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Their classic dishes, like their mouth-watering omelets and eggs benedicts, will give your taste buds an unforgettable experience. Bend has grown rapidly over the last decade, and what used to be a pretty basic restaurant scene has evolved to include vegan eats, authentic world cuisine, and fine dining.

While it cant rival the foodie cities of Portland or Seattle, and there are some notable gaps in cuisine , Bends restaurant scene can hold its own for a small town.

BALTAZAR’S RESTAURANT

Currents At The Riverhouse

Newport Oregon Bed and Breakfast | Tyee Lodge | Oregon Coast

How do I feel about brunch at Currents at the Riverhouse? As I typed the words just now, my mouth literally started watering as I thought about their corned beef hash served with onions, bell pepper, potato, spinach, poached eggs, and horseradish crème fraiche. Its one of the few breakfast items that reheats beautifully so you can take half of it home to enjoy the next day. Or an hour later because you cant stop thinking about it.

Corned beef hash at Currents is every bit as delicious as it looks.

The brioche French toast and Belgian waffle are other popular offerings for the sweet-loving crowd, and the salmon lox croissant always catches my eye, too.

If you ask nicely and its not too busy, you can score a table with views of the river, or dine outdoors on their riverfront deck when its nice outside.

Chow American Vegetarian & Vegan Friendly $$

If you want your taste buds to wake up in the best way possible, Chow is one of the best recommendations in town for true foodies and breakfast connoisseurs. The menu is the big start of this charming little converted cottage, featuring top-notch ingredients that are locally sources when possible and offer something for everyone. The breakfast Crabby Patty, the Caesar cornmeal pancake and poached eggs, the Blackstones crusted tomatoes, eggs, and bacon, or the Locavore omelet if you cant decide everything is a good pick here.

Those more interested in a lunch meal will love options like the honey truffle fried chicken sando or the shrimp and grits. Its also closely connected to the Cottonwood Café and the Good Karma Bakery if you are looking for additional options with similar menus and alternative availability/location choices.

Most Central Oregon restaurants serving breakfast offer breakfast burritos, or so it seems. To find the best, it took almost two weeks of eating multiple burritos each day to make a fair comparison. Some burritos are simply wraps or tortillas with breakfast ingredients. Others are traditional Mexican burritos. The burritos that originated in Mexico are small and thin, with only one or two ingredients. All of the burritos that I tried would be considered mission-style burritos, plumply overstuffed with various ingredients.

The name mission-style refers to the origins of these super burritos. Febronio Ontiveros claims to have invented them at El Faro, a grocery store in the Mission District of San Francisco, in 1961.
