I absolutely adore the fact that this breakfast casserole is elegant enough to be served for breakfast on a special occasion, but also straightforward enough to be prepared on a Sunday as part of your weekly meal preparation in order to enjoy a healthy and flavorful breakfast on subsequent mornings throughout the week!
When I get up in the morning, having an egg breakfast that is already prepared and waiting for me to eat is one of my most favorite things.
Sausage Hash Brown Breakfast Casserole
This Breakfast Casserole with Sausage and Hash Browns is just what you need for Christmas morning. It is possible to prepare it in advance and store it in the refrigerator until you are ready to place it in the oven.

Can I Use Potatoes
Yes, you can replace the bread with diced hash brown potatoesthe kind you find in the freezer section of the grocery store. Guests have *loved* this version. Use about 3 cups of hash browns in place of the bread. You could also peel and dice fresh potatoes, but youll need to quickly cook them on the skillet for 10 minutes before using in this dish.

Sausage And Crescent Roll Casserole
It takes only 40 minutes to make this cheesy, saucy sausage and crescent roll casserole. Youll start with an incredible crescent roll base.
To that, youll add your marinara and sausage mixture. Then, youll top that with parmesan and mozzarella and bake it for about 20 to 25 minutes.
Top it with whatever you like. Either way, youll undoubtedly want a second helping.
How To Make This Sausage Breakfast Casserole Recipe

STEP ONE: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13 casserole dish with 1 tablespoon of butter. Set aside.
STEP TWO: To thaw the potatoes, measure out 5 cups and place them in the fridge until thawed. Or to thaw quickly, place in a microwave-safe bowl. Cook on 50% power for 2 minutes at a time until they are just thawed . Set aside.
STEP THREE: In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, break up the ground sausage and cook until the sausage is brown and cooked through. Turn off the stove, remove the pan from the heat and let the sausage cool slightly.

PRO TIP: If you are substituting diced yellow onions for green onions, you can cook them with the sausage in the skillet.
STEP FOUR: Transfer the cooked sausage to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb the excess fat from the sausage before combining it with the microwaved potatoes. Make sure to mix well as this will ensure that you have an even distribution of both sausage and potatoes.
STEP FIVE: In a medium mixing bowl, pour in the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Drain the tomatoes and add to the mixture.
STEP SIX: Chop the whites and greens of the green onions and add to the egg mixture. Then stir in the shredded cheese.
STEP SEVEN: Layer the sausage on top of the potatoes and pour the egg mixture on top, spreading it out evenly. Shake the pan just a little bit so it settles in between the potatoes.
STEP NINE: Remove from the oven and let sit for 20 minutes before serving.

There are a lot of choices in the egg case these days. Consumer response to the big chicken farms is the increased desire for what are known as free-range eggs. However, it is, to a large extent, a marketing term.
Producers of free-range chickens and eggs must simply be able to demonstrate to the USDA that the poultry has been allowed access to the outside. This does not necessarily mean the chickens are pecking away in a farmyard. They literally may simply have a door to the outside. Pastured poultry, on the other hand, is where the chickens are outdoors with a shelter. Pastured poultry eggs are increasingly available, most often at local farmers markets.
Organic is another word youll see. The USDAs National Organic Program regulates the standards for any farm, wild-crop harvesting or handling operation that wants to sell an agricultural product as organically produced. Livestock must be fed a diet of 100 percent organic feed, raised free of antibiotics and hormones, and have access to the outdoors and sunlight.
Eggs labeled natural are not subject to the same set of strict USDA standards as those that are labeled organic. Lets face it, these eggs can be expensive but when they are the star of the show, I find farm-fresh eggs are best.

An easy casserole recipe that may be used for dinner, as a side dish, at potlucks, and on Thanksgiving. It is created using uncooked white rice and sausage .
To avoid the dish tasting too chickeny , I recommend using Cream of Celery instead of other creamed soup tastes. Use only uncooked rice in this recipe. Because Ive never cooked Minute or Brown rice, Im not sure if this will work.
This recipe doubles BEAUTIFULLY in a 3-qt 13×9 dish. Continue cooking for an additional 15 to 30 minutes, or until the rice is cooked. I nearly usually double it. For the rice to be cooked all the way through, the dish needs to be covered in aluminum foil in such a way that the moisture is trapped inside.
This recipe yields four to six servings if served as a side dish. As a main meal, it feeds 3-4 . Im not sure how to make this in a slow cooker.
Do I Have To Use Bread
Bread or potatoes, yes. Besides eggs, bread is the main ingredient. To avoid a spongey, wet dish, this breakfast casserole needs structure at the bottom. You see, when eggs bake, they release a lot of liquid. Chunks of crusty bread soak up some liquid so the casserole is chunky and textured, not flat and wet. If youre looking for something without this starchy addition, crustless vegetable quiche is a great option.

- 5 cups potatoes OBrien, thawed

- 32 ounces Egg Beaters Original or 14 eggs
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1½ teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 can RO*TEL Original Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies
- 2 cups shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese blend
PRO TIP:
The 5 cups of potatoes is equal to 1 bag of frozen diced potatoes. If you cannot find OBrien potatoes, you can add ½ cup diced red bell pepper and/or green bell pepper and 1 cup of diced onions to the skillet to cook with the sausage.
