San Antonio Breakfast: Jim’s Restaurant
Jims Restaurant is a popular chain that offers comfort food and friendly service at moderate prices. Young entrepreneur G. Jim Hasslocher began selling ice-cold sliced watermelon next to his bike stand in 1974, which then evolved into a drive-in that sold burgers, onion rings, and milkshakes. He named his business Frontier Enterprises, and with its loyal following it grew into the successful restaurant chain it is today with locations all over Texas. Homestyle breakfasts include the Texas Two Step Breakfast of two buttermilk pancakes, two eggs cooked in any style, and two strips of bacon, Texas French toast, cowboy waffles, and buttermilk pancakes.

Best Breakfast Restaurants In San Antonio

The first entry on my list of the best breakfast restaurants in San Antonio is The Magnolia Pancake Haus. You can find it on Huebner Road and Embassy Oaks.
It has a casual and bustling vibe that encourages patrons to start their day most energetically. Executive Chef Mike Alvarez serves the best pancakes in town and other breakfast favorites.
The Magnolia Pancake Haus has one of the most diverse menu options Ive ever seen in any restaurant.
I recommend ordering their Bananas Foster Pancakes, Cakes and Eggs, Eggs Fitzgerald, or Jambalaya Omelet.
Dont forget to try their fresh citrus compote or strawberries to get some fruit into your system for a delightful flavor burst.
Up next on my compilation of the best breakfast restaurants in San Antonio is La PanaderÃa, found on Fiesta Texas Drive, East Houston Street, and Broadway.
This cozy specialty bakery serves handmade bread and pan dulce, using several international bread-making techniques. If youre looking for something light and quick to eat, this restaurant is your best option.
My favorite breakfast options they offer are their Scrambled El Favorito, El Mexicano, Chorizo & Egg Torta, and Ham & Cheese Croissant.
I usually order an iced latte or Mexican hot chocolate to perk myself up. Order their Smore Cookie or Baby Chocolate Mousse Cake if you crave something sweet afterward.

Best Breakfast In Downtown San Antonio: Schilos
Schilos is a staple in the San Antonio breakfast scene. Its been here since 1917, serving up German-inspired breakfast favorites as the oldest operating restaurant in town. It actually started out as a saloon, but the family shrewdly pivoted to food and root beer to stay profitable during Prohibition. Try the Papa Fritz Breakfast, which is named in honor of Fritz Schilo, the restaurants namesake . But not everything here has a German flair: you can still pick up a plate of darn fine breakfast tacos at Schilos, too.

Best Pancakes In San Antonio: The Magnolia Pancake Haus
I didnt like Magnolia the first time I went there, but its grown on me the more Ive eaten here. Magnolia Pancake Haus serves German-inspired breakfast fare and its definitely a San Antonio institution. My husband always orders the frittata and makes little Mm noises when hes eating it, so I know hes a fan! I always order their pfannkuchen, which is basically a Dutch baby with caramelized apples, cinnamon, and cream. Its perfectly custardy, crispy, and decadent.
Magnolia has plenty of parking and lots of tables, but its not unusual to wait for a table if you eat at 8 or 9 am. I recommend getting here right when they open so you dont have to wait.
