Joan is a Critical Care Nurse by profession retired from Hewlett Packard and Philips Medical. She loves to bake, garden and decorate. Brian, Joans son, has a business management degree from Florida Atlantic University, and spent 20 years in the restaurant industry in South Florida. His greatest love is creating the best breakfast in Gettysburg. AmyBeth, Brians wife, was born and raised in Newburyport, Massachusetts, and studied Criminal Justice. As an Innkeeper she loves the chance to meet people from many different countries, cultures and walks of life. AmyBeths other passion is being a Mom and raising her small children.

Our stone farmhouse was built in 1809 and was used as a headquarters by Brigadier General Wesley Merritt during the Battle of Gettysburg.
Many rooms are named after units that fought on the property which features 30 acres of the South Cavalry Battlefield.
The inn has grown to include several spacious sitting rooms and a beautiful Solarium. Expect historical ambiance and modern, luxury accommodations.

The Anna And Cornelius Houghtelin Home History
During the Battle of Gettysburg, the farmhouse belonged to abolitionists Anna and Cornelius Houghtelin, Vice-President of Gettysburg’s Anti-Slavery Society in 1835.
The Farmhouse was General Merritt’s Headquarters during the cavalry battle here on the South Cavalry field. The Historic Barn Venue was a Civil War Field Hospital.
The Solarium contains a fireplace designed by Victorian architect Frank Furness, who was a cavalry soldier with Rush’s Lancers, a distinguished unit that fought on this property.
The infamous artillerist Lt. Robert James dropped an engraved silver spoon on the grounds.
President Eisenhower walked the property.

Florence March has been innkeeping since 1994. She loves music, teaching, cooking, and gardening. In a world long ago and far away, she studied geology and worked in a science lab analyzing meteorites while looking for signs of life in outer space. While raising children, she trained as a music docent and taught elementary music in the California public schools.
Yes, Florence is a Californian at heart. She was born in Hollywood and grew up in California. She moved to Gettysburg in 1993 to convert a historic farmhouse into an inn where guests can create memories and go away knowing more than they did when they arrived.
“When you visit, I would love to tell you about my song-writing. Songwriting makes me think. I’ve also written some piano music.
I accompany the choir and the hymns at the Unitarian Universalists of Gettysburg. I was one of the founding members of this church and we started right here in the Parlor at Battlefield Bed & Breakfast in 2002.

From the moment we got there, I could feel the history everywhere I moved. I was on a Women’s Weekend Retreat with women from around the US. This place is historical. From the dining room, to the sitting parlor, to the wrap around porch, to the stairs and most of all to the bedrooms. “Historical” We sleep in comfort with a beautiful view. Before bed we were given homemade cookies. YUM! The breakfast are delicious and the staff greets you by name with a smile. Thank you to the Inn Keeper and to one of the owners of the Inn Christine for the hospitality that was show to us during our stay. This will be an excellent choice when traveling through Gettysburg, Girl’s weekend or a Honeymoon stop. Or just a place to get away to if you are looking for somewhere comfortable. Oh, I must not forget to mention this Inn is in walking distance of shops and restaurants.

Good beds, wifi and television were a nice touch. Amazing staff, great breakfast, very pretty rooms.

The venue is located in the historical district of Gettysburg. You can get to 12th & 44th New York Infantry Monument in a few minutes by car.
The staff were exquisite, the rooms was fantastic at all times. Bed was lovely, I enjoyed it. I had breakfast in the bar during my stay.
