How To Make Breakfast Potatoes

My method for how to make breakfast potatoes is super easy! Heres how it goes:

First, prep the potatoes. Cut them into 1/2-inch chunks, leaving the skins on. Theyre essential for helping the potatoes get nice and crispy in the oven! Spread the potatoes on a large, parchment-lined baking sheet and toss them with olive oil, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes.

Arrange the potatoes in a single layer, leaving a little space around each one. If theyre too crowded, theyll steam in the oven, and they wont crisp up as they bake.

Then, bake! Transfer the potatoes to a 425° oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown and crisp around the edges. If you like, you could stop here and devour the crispy potatoes as they are, but I recommend making the optional sautéed veggies if you can.

Next, sauté the onions and peppers. Heat a little olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the onions, bell peppers, and garlic and cook until soft and lightly browned, 5 to 8 minutes. Remove the veggies from the heat, stir in the potatoes, and sprinkle with cilantro.

Finally, season to taste with salt and pepper, and eat!

How Long To Bake Eggs

The exact timing for baked eggs varies based on a few variables: the exact heat of the oven, the thickness of the baking dish, and how runny youd like the yolk.

  • It takes about 12 to 15 minutes to cook eggs in a ramekin to where the yolk is runny and the white is set. The style is closest to sunny side up eggs.
  • Cook longer to fully cook the yolk. This would be closer to over hard eggs.
  • Thicker baking dishes cause the timing to be slightly longer.
  • Start checking at 12 minutes: look at the whites around the yolk and make sure they are just set.

Sheet Pan Huevos Rancheros

Huevos Rancheros is made even easier with this sheet pan-based recipe. Unlike the traditional version, which is often served on top of crispy fried corn tortillas, our test kitchen chefs cut the tortillas into wedges and bake them in the oven for a “homemade chip” kind of feel. The rest of the recipe is pretty straightforward alongside a chunky salsa made from ancho chile and jalapeno peppers, scallions, tomato sauce and chili beans, youll also top the dish with 12 egg yolks, chopped avocado and crumbled Cotija cheese.

The Best Pan For Scrambled Eggs

9 Egg Recipes for Breakfast

The very best pan for scrambling eggs is a non-stick skillet because the eggs will slide easily without sticking to the pan. You can also use a cast-iron pan as long as it’s well-seasoned . In a pinch, a stainless steel can be used, but use some extra butter or oil to prevent the eggs from sticking too much.

Frittata With Bacon Corn And Gruyre

Like an omelette, a frittata is a great way to whip up a meal just by combining eggs with whatever tasty scraps of vegetables, meat, and cheese you have lying around. Though this one was developed with a quick dinner in mind, it’s also a bang-up way to start your Saturday morning. We reserve some of the fat rendered from crisping the bacon to cook the corn, scallions, and jalapeños, then add them to a combination of eggs, milk or half-and-half, and Gruyère cheese. Keep back half of the cheese, plus a little bacon and a few jalapeño slices, to broil on top of the frittata after the eggs have mostly cooked through. For a different approach to your frittata, try this stovetop-only version, which is flipped instead of being cooked in the oven, much like a Spanish tortilla.

  • Use a cookie cutter to cut out the circle in the center of the bread.
  • Melt butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.

  • Cook the center circles this way as well and set aside.

How To Make Sunny Side Up Eggs

EGG MUFFINS (3 WAYS) | healthy breakfast meal prep recipe

Ready to start frying? Remember: youll want to cook eggs on medium low or low heat. The slower the better with eggs, since theyre delicate and can easily be overcooked. Here are the basic steps to a perfectly cooked sunny side up egg:

    • Heat the butter: Heat ½ tablespoon butter over medium low heat.
    • Add the eggs: Add 1 or 2 eggs and sprinkle with a pinch of kosher salt and a few grinds black pepper.
    • Cook: Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until the whites are firm but the yolk is still runny. Dont flip them!

The best spatula to use? Try a fish spatula for a cast iron pan, or a nylon spatula for a non-stick pan. And thats it! Its simple: but it does require a little finesse and confidence. The more you practice, the easier it becomes. Speaking of that
