Also a ton of history. The house is over 200 years old and has the original floors. We enjoyed our time here immensely both talking to the owners and the other wonderful people who stayed here. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the sticky buns were to die for. I highly recommend this B& B.
Springfield House SucksDo NOT make a reservation here!!!This place is a RIPOFF!!! the two owners are thieves stealing your money. Do NOT deal with these people. Why?? Because they charge your credit card for the full amount of the stay in advance of you ever actually staying there. Then, they refuse to cancel your reservation, even though it is well in advance of the dates. They dont communicate at all. They dont respond to calls, emails or social media posts. I have been battling to get my money back for over a month and I still cant get these people to reply. I luckily used a credit card, so I at least have the ability to dispute the charge . History Of Springfield House
In the historic town of Celbridge, records show Springfield dating from 1763, making this property over 250 years old.
In 1801 the house was leased to James Langrishe and his heirs. This family is mentioned by Aidan Higgins, who was also born in Springfield, in his book, Langrishe Go Down, . Morgan Sheehy used this a basis for his restoration of the house. Springfield is also noted in ‘Ancestral Voices – The Big House in Anglo-Irish Literature’ by Otto Rauchbauer.
Morgan and Libby Sheehy purchased Springfield in 1989 spending two years restoring the main house and grounds. With the sudden death of Morgan in 1992, Libby and their six children made the decision to keep their home by running it as a “Bed and Breakfast”, which remains open throughout the year.
