How Welcome: Inn Came About

Dave and Jenny never dreamed of owning an inn, but as soon as they toured this historical home, they knew they had to have it. The house in question is located one town over from Bentonville, Arkansas, where Jenny and Dave live.

We immediately knew it was such a cool house that we wanted to save, Dave tells HGTV. We didnt even know what we were going to do with it, we just didnt want to see it get torn down. So, we kind of bought it, really, without any plan.

The house had been abandoned for a while and was in desperate need of a renovation. As soon as Dave and Jenny began to analyze the layout, they realized it would make for the perfect bed and breakfast.

We knew wed be able to work the floorplan in such a way to provide a bedroom and a bathroom,”Jenny tells HGTV.”And we knew we didnt want to move into it. We also knew we didnt want to sell it, so we just thought this would be a great project to create a place where people can come and visit and stay from all over the country.

Jenny And Dave Marrs Will Be Taking Renovation To The Next Level

Recently, Jenny Marrs of “Fixer to Fabulous” took to her to announce some exciting news. She and her husband, Dave, are starting a new HGTV series: “Fixer to Fabulous: Welcome Inn.” And, while the pair is excited about this project, it wasn’t easy. In her post, Jenny discussed the difficulties of the renovation.

“The monstrosity of a project called The Welcome Inn is finally wrapped up and we have an air date so you can all watch the madness unfold! This was truly a massive undertaking…we fell in love with a beautiful, yet downtrodden, historic home and decided to restore it early last year. It seemed like a typical home restoration for us but it ended up being a rollercoaster ride / money pit / labor of love.”

Luckily for fans, that rollercoaster ride turned into a new series for home restoration lovers to enjoy. According to HGTV, the show will premiere March 15, 2022, at 9/8c and will consist of four episodes. Every Tuesday night, Jenny and Dave will take viewers along as they renovate an 1880s home and turn it into a fully functioning inn.

HGTV stars Dave Marrs and Jenny Marrs had so much fun working on their recent bed and breakfast project, the couple tell Closer exclusively. The entire restoration process was documented on their spinoff series, Fixer to Fabulous: Welcome Inn.

We finished up the actual project in January and we are waiting to rent it out until the beginning of May so that the show can air, and we dont give anything away, Jenny explains.

The pair, who are experts in restoring historical homes, always had a dream of owning an inn. They knew that this particular 1870s home was worth saving immediately when they toured it. The television stars set out to design their ideal bed and breakfast called The Welcome Inn.

We try to make these houses for these homeowners as a reflection of their family. And I feel like this house was, its a reflection of Jenny and I and the things that we love, Dave adds about the inspiration behind the decor. Its kind of become, you know, just like our baby, like a little project making a house exactly how weve always wanted to.

Though they are extremely excited about the outcome of their project, the pair did run into a few challenges like trying to figure out the website and the rental piece of it. Just like with every home they renovate on their hit series Fixer to Fabulous, Dave and Jennys goal is always to highlight some of the great features that each house already has.

Welcome Inn Will Focus On One Big Renovation Project

While “Fixer to Fabulous” features a new home renovation project each week, the four-episode spin-off, “Fixer to Fabulous: Welcome Inn,” will take fans a bit deeper into Jenny and Dave Marrs’ renovation process since it focuses on one big property.

In a preview from HGTV, Dave explains that they “bought an old, old house that we’re going to make into a bed and breakfast.” While they do say that the house was a great investment, the preview shows that they may have gotten more than they bargained for with the purchase.

However, once they set eyes on the property which is located one town over from where the family currently lives the Marrs knew they had to rehab it.

“We immediately knew it was such a cool house that we wanted to save,” Dave told HGTV. “We didn’t even know what we were going to do with it, we just didn’t want to see it get torn down. So, we kind of bought it, really, without any plan.”

Dave And Jenny Marrs Are Building A Real Bed

The Fixer to Fabulous spinoff is all about Dave and Jenny’s efforts to put to use the old home they bought for themselves. They’d planned to buy and renovate the house on their own, but it wouldn’t be a true Marrs project if they didn’t allow HGTV cameras into the process. No, the house isn’t meant to be sold and it isn’t for a client. But Dave and Jenny’s bed-and-breakfast is still an important project for them.

“We immediately knew it was such a cool house that we wanted to save,” Dave told HGTV of seeing the house and wanting to buy it right away. “We didn’t even know what we were going to do with it, we just didn’t want to see it get torn down. So, we kind of bought it, really, without any plan.”

But even if the house is theirs, Dave and Jenny were able to share their renovation with former residents of the home. Jenny told HGTV that they were able to show an 89-year-old woman who was born in and lived in the home their progress, though that isn’t shown in the series.

Fixer To Fabulous: Welcome Inn

Welcome to the LA bed n’ breakfast

The 1870s home was far from perfect when Dave and Jenny first made a purchase. Filled with bees and seriously out-dated, the married couple knew they had some serious work to do which would take many months.

Fixer to Fabulous: Welcome Inn is currently airing on screens every Tuesday night on HGTV, which consist of four episodes in total. The property was originally built by the King family in the 1870s on a 160-acre working farm.

The restoration itself took just under a year and was a massive undertaking. They faced extensive rot in the floors and walls, termite damage, and hundreds of thousands of bees living within the exterior columns.

Dave and Jenny also had to bring the house up-to-date with electrical and plumbing, and a functioning kitchen. The character of the property was kept throughout, with some new modern touches!

Best line ever Why didnt it look this bad when we bought it? @DaveMarrs Too funny! #FixerToFabulous#WelcomeInn@hgtv#FixerToFab
